our non-profit beneficiary

Our purpose is:

  • to empower all youth and their families, but especially at-risk youth and families.

  • to provide for the relief of the poor and distressed or the underprivileged, the advancement of religion, and the advancement of education, both religious and secular.

  • to combat community deterioration and juvenile delinquency.

Mission Empowerment is a non-profit Christian community service organization founded by Alfred L. Jones III in 1990. Jones founded and has pastored the Jesus Center Church of Appomattox since 1980. Mission Empowerment has operated solely on church and community funding and donations since its inception. The non-profit operates out of family life center on the church property which houses a commercial kitchen, cafeteria, gymnasium, classrooms and a conference room. Mission Empowerment's community services include a free after-school program four days a week where students pre-k thru 12 receive transportation to the program from school, tutoring, recreation and a hot meal. During the summer youth may attend several free camps that include trips and weekly swimming activities. These are just two examples of the many programs offered through this organization.

Mission Empowerment runs solely off of donations and volunteers for all programming. The Hill City Handmade is excited to contribute to everything the organization is doing to help those in our local community!
